Project summary

Sea1 Offshore engaged us to perform corrosion protection touch-ups on 16 box coolers aboard the Siem Symphony. Work was carried out at Remontowa Shiprepair in Poland.

How we worked

Following HP-washing and chemical cleaning by the yard, we manually painted damaged areas—mainly on outer tubes, row 2, and support plates. Once cured, we applied a full coat of Säkatonit Extra AR-F Red by spray. While spray-coating doesn’t reach that deep, it provides critical protection ahead of the next full overhaul.

Results

The damaged coating areas were successfully treated, and the entire cooler surface was sealed with a protective coating layer. This interim measure will slow corrosion and protect the steel until proper recoating is performed.

What we used

  • Säkatonit Extra AR-F Red

Reflections

This was a preventive measure, not a full recoating. We recommend full sandblasting and flooding at the next drydock to restore long-term protection. The collaboration with the yard ensured the work was done quickly and effectively.
