Project summary

NGP was contracted to carry out a full Base Coating procedure on a new box cooler unit for Weka Marine. The job was executed on-site at a facility in Tallinn and included preparation, blasting, coating, and final cleaning.

How we worked

Upon arrival, the cooler was pre-positioned at the workshop. We sandblasted the unit using garnet grit 30/60 to ensure optimal surface roughness. The cooler was then washed to remove blasting residue before the coating process began.

Results

The box cooler received two coats of Säkatonit Extra AR-F Red, ensuring corrosion protection. After curing, we laid the cooler flat and cleaned the tubesheet while flushing each individual pipe with air.

What we used

  • Garnet grit 30/60
  • Säkatonit Extra AR-F Red (2 coats)
  • Air flushing tools
  • Manual grinding and cleaning equipment

Reflections

The project was completed efficiently in close collaboration with the local agent. The cooler is now fully protected and ready for installation. A smooth, well-executed job from start to finish.
