Project summary
NGP was engaged to perform a full service of the rack coolers on Ulysses, including dismantling, chemical flushing, high-pressure cleaning and reinstallation. The work was carried out dockside at Tarragona Marina.
How we worked
We began by chemically flushing the sea chest using NGP Marine Cleaner and inspecting the system with camera equipment. The coolers were removed and cleaned with high-pressure water in the engine room. NGP Rack Cleaner diluted 1:3 was used to dissolve marine growth effectively. The coolers and their sea chest compartments were cleaned, inspected, and reinstalled with proper torque and cleaned gaskets.
Results
All rack and pleat coolers were cleaned and reinstalled without issues. The job was completed on time with excellent cooperation from the onboard crew. A follow-up maintenance plan will be coordinated with the OEM Hydroniq.
What we used
- NGP Rack Cleaner (1:3 dilution)
- NGP Marine Cleaner
- HP washer and flushing equipment
- Torque tools and gaskets
- Endoscopic inspection camera
Reflections
This was a seamless and well-executed project. We recommend repainting the sea chests at the vessel’s next docking to ensure full system protection. We appreciate the cooperation from Feadship’s crew and remain available to assist during the next scheduled service.
