Project summary
Westcon Florø engaged NGP to carry out a full surface treatment and coating of 15 box coolers from KV Jarl. The job included mechanical and chemical cleaning, sandblasting, two-layer coating and internal pipe flushing – all completed on a fast-track timeline to meet vessel return.
How we worked
The coolers were delivered to NGP’s workshop at Løfallstrand on October 8th. They were pressure washed, treated in a chemical bath, then sandblasted with SCOREX 06 to achieve SA 2.5 surface profile. After drying and air-cleaning, coating began during night hours on the 11th. All coolers received two layers of SÄKATONIT Extra AR-F and were left to cure in a controlled environment before final prep.
Results
The coolers were returned to the customer in excellent condition and ready for reinstallation. All flanges were brushed, all pipes flushed, and a touch-up kit included for any handling marks during assembly. The project was completed within deadline and without issues.
What we used
- SÄKATONIT Extra AR-F (2-layer system)
- SCOREX 06 sand for controlled blasting
- Heated curing zone
- High-pressure and chemical cleaning
- Air cleaning and flushing tools
Reflections
This project shows how fast-tracked delivery can still meet top standards when procedures, logistics and teamwork align. We’re proud to support the Norwegian Coast Guard with long-term corrosion protection.
