Project summary
Nordic Green Products carried out inspection and maintenance of several seawater box coolers onboard an offshore vessel operating in the United States. The project was completed in cooperation with Weka Marine, the manufacturer of the installed box cooler systems.
The scope included inspection, mechanical and chemical cleaning, gasket replacement and verification of system components. Four box coolers were removed, serviced and reinstalled during the maintenance operation.
How we worked
The work started with a detailed inspection of the cooling units to evaluate fouling levels and overall mechanical condition.
The maintenance process included:
- Visual inspection of box coolers and cooling system components
- High-pressure washing and manual removal of marine fouling
- Chemical cleaning using NGP Marine Fluid
- Internal flushing of cooler tubes
- Replacement of gaskets on cooler subframes
- Replacement of missing stud bolts
- Reinstallation and verification of the cooling system
After chemical treatment, each cooler was flushed with fresh water to remove any remaining residues before installation and system restart.
Results
The inspection revealed only limited marine fouling on the serviced units. No corrosion or damage to the tube stacks was observed, and seawater flow through the coolers was largely unobstructed.
During the maintenance work, three missing stud bolts were identified and replaced. All serviced coolers were reassembled with new gaskets before being reinstalled in the system.
What we used
- NGP Marine Fluid
- High-pressure washing equipment
- Chemical cleaning bath
- Manual cleaning tools
- Freshwater flushing equipment
