Project summary

Originally scoped for three box coolers, the project was expanded to include all eight units from Bourbon Liberty 308. NGP was responsible for cleaning, prepping, coating and final inspection — all performed on-site under challenging logistics and tight deadlines.

How we worked

Coolers were high-pressure washed (300 bar), manually scraped and flushed to remove failing paint and marine growth. A damaged cooler (15 plugged tubes) was restored and reinstalled. Coating was applied via flooding method with two layers of Säkatonit Extra AR-F and cured in ambient conditions. All tubesheets were ground and finished before delivery.

Results

All eight coolers were recoated to extend service life by an estimated five years.

What we used

  • Säkatonit Extra AR-F (2-coat flood method)
  • High-pressure water (300 bar)
  • Manual scraping tools
  • Grinding pads for tubesheets
  • Touch-up and inspection protocols

Reflections

This job demonstrates NGP’s flexibility and focus under pressure. By adapting methodology and pushing forward with available resources, we ensured delivery without compromising quality.
