Project summary
NGP was contracted to clean and recoat seven box coolers on Bourbon Liberty 161 during docking at Namdock in Walvis Bay. The full scope included removal of marine growth, surface preparation, sandblasting, two-coat painting, and internal tube flushing.
How we worked
Each cooler was manually scraped , high pressure washed, and chemically treated to remove fouling. After cleaning, the units were air-dried and sandblasted with Garnet Mesh 30/60 before applying two coats of Säkatonit Extra AR-F Red. Curing time between coats was respected, and all tubes were flushed one-by-one with air and water. Tubesheets were also cleaned and ground before delivery.
Results
All seven coolers were successfully recoated and completed on time. Full cooperation between NGP, the yard and vessel ensured efficient delivery of the project, with all coolers handed over clean and ready for installation.
What we used
- Säkatonit Extra AR-F Red (2-coat system)
- Garnet Mesh 30/60
- Air and HP water cleaning
- Custom flushing of tubes and grinding of tubesheets
