The Weka Protector is a compact protection unit designed to safeguard Weka copper-nickel box coolers from stray currents, ICCP interference and sacrificial anode currents. By stimulating the natural anti-fouling properties of CuNi, the Protector also helps reduce marine growth on the cooler surfaces, supporting stable cooling performance and lower maintenance needs.

Weka Protector is available in single, dual and multi-protector configurations to suit different cooler sizes and installation requirements.

Key benefits

  • Protects box coolers from stray currents and ICCP-related damage
  • Stimulates natural anti-fouling behaviour of CuNi coolers
  • Reduces fouling and helps keep heat transfer surfaces clean
  • Supports stable cooling efficiency and longer service life
  • Compact design for simple installation near the box cooler
  • Low maintenance and no ICAF system required
(based on Weka Marine’s natural anti-fouling system)

How it works

The Protector is installed close to the cooler and works by controlling electrical potential differences that may otherwise cause corrosion or unwanted current flow. This prevents damage from ICCP systems or sacrificial anodes and enhances the cooler’s inherent anti-fouling effect.

Typical applications

  • Weka CuNi box coolers
  • Vessels operating with ICCP or sacrificial anode protection
  • Installations where stray currents may affect cooler performance
  • Projects requiring reduced marine growth without chemical dosing
