Weka boxcoolers: reliable, closed-circuit efficiency

Weka Marine has more than 70 years of experience in marine cooling. Their closed-circuit boxcoolers are installed directly in the vessel’s sea chest. This design removes the need for pumps and filters, which reduces onboard energy use and simplifies maintenance. It also lowers the risk of biofouling, helping vessels stay compliant without chemical dosing or discharge.

Weka offers both uncoated and coated boxcoolers. The uncoated Cu/Ni 90/10 models contain a high copper content that naturally resists bio-growth. Coated coolers, which provide extra corrosion protection, do not have this same resistance and need occasional cleaning.

Preventive maintenance, minimal disruption

We support Weka’s technology with non-invasive cleaning methods that are tailored for boxcoolers and heat exchangers. Our products are biodegradable and non-corrosive, safely removing biofilm, scale and corrosion without damaging sensitive surfaces or coatings. This is especially important for coated coolers, where maintaining the protective layer is critical.
