# Recoating of Box Coolers – North Promise

## A structured process from start to finish

Before we arrived, all ten box coolers had been removed from the vessel and lightly washed by the yard. They were then transported to PBP facilities in Peterhead, where our team started the cleaning process immediately.

We carried out HP washing, manual scraping, and chemical cleaning to remove marine growth and remaining coating. The box coolers were then sandblasted, flushed with air and water, and prepared for coating.

Two layers of Säkatonit Extra AR-F Red were applied, a robust and long-lasting coating designed for high-salinity marine environments.

## Focus on details and quality assurance

We gave special attention to gasket surfaces and tubesheets, removing any paint residue and carefully applying a thin protective layer. All tubes were flushed internally with freshwater to reduce the risk of contamination.

A final inspection confirmed that the box coolers were structurally sound. Only minor wear was observed on one previously black-coated unit, but no leaks or perforations were found. All units were delivered ready for reinstallation and pressure testing by Dales Marine.

## A reliable upgrade for offshore operations

The original coating showed clear signs of breakdown, confirming the need for recoating. With the new protective layers, the cooling system on *North Promise* is now prepared for continued service in demanding offshore conditions.
